Sunny, warm, the humid air blowing in your face while winding down quaint, twisty roads:  we couldn't have asked for a better experience...

After a great night in Victoria, Luke, Katrina, and I drove up the island near Campbell River to meet the rest of my family at my Great Uncle Gene's House.  Now Gene, or "Green Gene" as we call him is my grandfather's younger brother, and is such an interesting man.  He built his house on his property with cedar from the land and can make just about anything grow in his extensive garden...

Nearing the end of summer, some members of my family and I made our separate ways to Vancouver Island to visit some friends and see my Great Uncle Gene.  My first day on the island, I checked into the apartment of my friends Chris and Kendra who left me a key while they were in Alberta for a couple months.  They had left a wonderful welcome package for the guests staying at their place during the summer, with directions and reviews for some of their favourite restaurants and cafes.  I took their advice and had brunch at the Blue Fox where I had the best Eggs Benedict that I have had in my life. I then met up with my good friends Luke and Katrina who I had met in California in 2006 and then hiked the West Coast Trail with in 2008...

I can't think of a better place to spends Halloween.  Vegas is warm, exciting and everyone gets dressed up.  Half of the people dressed up a sexy version of something or other, the other half dressed up as zombies, but they all tended to stay pretty close to the slot machines and are there year-round ;) ...
